Dorothy C. Zesch, 83, of Ferguson, died Sunday, July 7, 2013, at Grandview Nursing and Rehab, in Marshalltown. Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m., Wednesday, July 10, 2013, at the Main St. Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes, in Marshalltown. Visitation will be 5 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, July 9, 2013, at the Main St. Chapel of the Anderson Funeral Homes. Interment will be at Rose Hill Memorial Gardens in Marshalltown. Dorothy was born on June 17, 1930, to Raymond and Ila (Hoffa) Smith in Eldora. She was raised in Eldora and Marshalltown and attended school there. Dorothy was united in marriage to Lee H. Zesch on Oct. 6, 1946, at the Baptist Temple in Marshalltown. They lived their entire married life in the Ferguson area. She was a member of the Ferguson Christian Church. Dorothy was a Boy Scouts den mother, worked as a cook and worked for Kiowa Corporation. Between jobs she raised six children, cared for Lee's aunt and then Lee until their deaths.
Dorothy will be missed by her children: Ralph Zesch, of Marshalltown, Raymond Zesch, of Dunbar, Ila (Richard) Coleman, of Alleman, Christina (Kent) Gilbert, of Le Grand, and LeAnna (Blackie) Reed, of Branson, Mo.; 20 plus grandchildren; 34 plus great grandchildren; a sister, Helen Spurling, of Ontario, Calif.; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lee; a son, Stanley Wayne Zesch Sr.; a sister, Winnona Ogden and a brother, Don Smith.
