Marshalltown High School junior-to-be Ashley Harris came in sixth in the girls 16-18 age division at the Iowa PGA Junior Championship on Thursday at Lake Panorama National Golf Course in Panora.
Harris, who qualified for the girls' state golf meet as a freshman, shot an 86 in the event. She carded one birdie during her round and finished eight shots off the pace set by Jasmine Wyzgowski from Waukee High School.
Harris also took fifth in her division of the Junior Tour Mid Summer Classic in Ankeny. The event was played Monday at Briarwood Club and Tuesday at Otter Creek Golf Course.
Harris shot 85-86-171 to finish 18 shots back of Waukee's Payton Minear.
Marshalltown native JD Pollard also played in the event, tying for 11th in the boys 12-13 division with rounds of 103-95-198.
Last Friday, Harris topped her division with a round of 89 to win the Eagle Junior Mid Summer Classic, hosted by Indian Creek Country Club in Nevada. South Hardin High School graduate Cami Eller placed fourth with a round of 96.
MHS sophomore-to-be Brant McKibben carded a round of 90 to place 18th in the boys 14-15 division. In the boys 12-13 group, Marshalltown youths Tate Carlson placed fifth (87) and Pollard (101) ninth.
