Disappointed with Iowa Veterans Home

September 18, 2013

I am very disappointed with the Iowa Veterans Home in Marshalltown. I drove 60 miles to donate 10 pairs of jeans that my grandson outgrew, two winter jackets and some shirts. I was told they do not take anything used, it is to be new. In this economy how can people donate brand new items?

I also made 10 lap blankets, patch work quilts, which took hours to make. They replied they had to be in plastic bags in order to accept them. They never even examined them.

The administration must never have been in a needy position their lifetime. They need to change their policy.

I am sure the residents would have been thankful.

I told the staff I will never be back and what a shame.
