PREP VOLLEYBALL: Redhawks fall to third-ranked Tripoli

TRAER - Class 1A No. 3-ranked Tripoli, the five-time defending state champions, put an end to North Tama's six-match winning streak by sweeping the Redhawks on their home court Tuesday, 25-9, 25-19, 25-20, in Iowa Star Conference play.

The Panthers (8-4, 2-0) were led by eight kills and three blocks from Elizabeth Seehase. Toni Moeller had 21 assists and served 17-for-17 with five of Tripoli's nine aces.

North Tama (10-4, 1-1) was led by Josie Youel, who recorded eight kills and three blocks as well. Setter Anna Kvidera had 10 assists and three kills, Whitney Pokorny also had three kills, and Molly Dvorak added two kills.

Shayla Kopriva paced the Redhawks with 10 digs and two service aces.

North Tama's gauntlet run through the Iowa Star's best visits second-ranked Janesville (7-1, 2-0) tonight.

Trojets topple Meskwaki in three

MESKWAKI SETTLEMENT - Northeast Hamilton ended a nine-match losing streak with a 3-0 sweep of Meskwaki in Tuesday's Iowa Star Conference clash, 25-13, 25-19, 25-22.

Kaylee Massman led the Trojets (3-12, 1-1) with eight kills. Lillian Chamness had 11 assists and served 17-for-17 with six of her team's 13 aces.

Meskwaki (0-10, 0-2) got a team-high four kills from Kadyn Clark. Dairrah Keahna and Deah Moore had four blocks apiece. The Warriors, however, served just 19-for-49.

Meskwaki visits Class 1A No. 3 Tripoli tonight in conference play.
