Marshalltown man arrested with $2M in cocaine

October 1, 2013

COLUMBUS, Ohio - The State Highway Patrol says troopers seized more than $2 million worth of cocaine from a tractor-trailer after a traffic stop on an interstate in central Ohio.

The patrol says troopers stopped the tractor-trailer Monday afternoon on Interstate 70 in Madison County for a turn-signal violation. Troopers report seizing nearly 53 pounds of cocaine concealed in a false wall in the trailer after a drug-sniffing dog alerted them.

The patrol says 48-year-old Abraham Martinez of Monrovia, Calif., and 49-year-old Alfredo Ramos of Marshalltown, were each arrested on a federal charge of conspiracy to possess with intent to distribute cocaine.

Ramos' attorney did not immediately return a call seeking comment. Martinez' attorney said he had just received the case and had no immediate comment.
