Kevin L. Chizek, 66, of Beaman, IA passed away Wednesday, October 16, 2013, Iowa Methodist Medical Center, in DesMoines, IA. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m., Saturday, October 19, 2013, at the Gladbrook United Methodist Church, in Gladbrook. Kevin was born August 15, 1947 to George and Phyllis (Kaput) Chizek in Marshalltown, IA. He graduated from Gladbrook High School in 1965. He received his associate degree from Marshalltown Community College in 1968. Kevin was united in marriage to Kathleen Whannel on February 7, 1976 in Gladbrook. Kevin farmed the rural Beaman and Gladbrook areas his entire life. He loved planting crop and harvesting crops along with everything that went with farming. He was a member of the Gladbrook JC's and played ball for them. He was a member of the Beaman Fire Department and Gladbrook Fire Department where he served as the secretary for 20 years. Kevin was also a member of the Gladbrook United Methodist Church. Kevin was an avid Iowa Hawkeye and Green Bay Packers fan. He loved collecting John Deere stuff and was an avid John Deere man.
Kevin will be missed by his wife, Kathy, a son, Kyle Chizek of Beaman, his mother, Phyllis Chizek of Gladbrook, a sister, Kathy (Robert) Herink of Gladbrook, four nieces; Kortney (Peter) Moore, Jamie, Nicole, and Kayla Fisher, three nephews, Grant (Dannielle Lindsay) Herink, Jason (Danielle Eaton) Seaton and Chad (Missy) Seaton, a great nephew, Blake, and a great niece, Audra. He was preceded in death by his father, George Chizek, in January of 2013, his father in law, Wayne Whannel, and a great niece, Gracie Jo Seaton.
