The Marshalltown Public Library will be celebrating its fifth anniversary from 1to 4 p.m. Saturday at the library.
The celebration will include door prizes, cake, cookies, punch, live music, a program and a model train display.
Sarah Rosenblum, Marshalltown Public Library director, encourages everyone to attend.
"We are hoping people will stop by and wish the library happy anniversary as we are very excited," Rosenblum said. "We are going to have a fun day of events."
For those wanting to come early, Rosenblum said a train story time will held for children at 10:30 a.m.
At 1:15 p.m., Janet Collison, a local harpist, will play music until the program begins.
"We are going to have a short program at 2 p.m. with the Friends of the Library president, hopefully the library board president and the mayor to say a few words about the library," Rosenblum said.
From 2:45 to 4 p.m., an open house will be held and Annie Grieshop will play holiday music and cake will be served.
"We're going to have a lovely cake with the national medal that we won," Rosenblum said. "We want everybody to come by."
The actual fifth anniversary date is Dec. 22, Rosenblum said they are celebrating early because it is close to the holidays.
