Arrests

On Friday, Michael Heggebo, age 18, of Waterloo, was arrested by Black Hawk County authorities on a Grundy County warrant charging him with probation violation. He is being held in lieu of bond.

On Friday, John Hamlin, age 26, of Reinbeck, was arrested in Reinbeck and charged with public intoxication-first offense. He posted bond and was released.

On Jan. 17, Jonathan Nemmers, age 24, of Jesup, was arrested by Black Hawk County authorities on a Grundy County warrant charging him with probation violation. Nemmers is being held in lieu of bond.

Accidents

On Jan. 22, a car driven by Britney Keller, age 18, of Morrison, was westbound on D-35 two miles west of T-55 when it went out of control on a snowy bridge and entered the north ditch. Keller sustained minor injuries. Damage to the Keller car was estimated at $1,500.

On Jan. 20, a vehicle driven by Jerry Hebrink, age 50, of Conrad, was southbound on Highway 14 north of Grundy Center when it went out of control, entered the ditch and rolled onto the passenger side. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Hebrink vehicle was estimated at $5,000.

On Jan. 20, a vehicle driven by a 17-year-old male from Traer was northbound on Blackhawk Street in Reinbeck and attempted to turn into a parking spot striking a legally parked car owned by Ronald Rippel, of Reinbeck, pushing it into a car owned by Nathan Wrage, of Gladbrook, and then attempting to back away from the situation and striking a vehicle owned by Phillip Franksain, of Cedar Falls. No injuries were reported. The male juvenile was cited for failure to maintain control and expired registration. Damage to the 17-year-old's vehicle was estimated at $100 while the Rippel car received an estimated $4,000 in damage, the Wrage car an estimated $1,000 in damage and the Franksain vehicle an estimated $1,500 in damage.

On Jan. 19, a vehicle driven by Lois Meester, age 68, of Grundy Center, was westbound on Highway 175 west of Morrison when it struck a deer that entered the roadway. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Meester vehicle was estimated at $2,000.

On Jan. 18, a vehicle with a snow plow attached driven by Charles Christensen, age 64, of Dike, was plowing snow in Dike when in backing up it struck a vehicle driven by Rachel Rekers, age 48, of Dike. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Rekers vehicle was estimated at $3,500.

On Jan. 18, a car driven by Mitchell Taylor, age 41, of Lawrence, Kan., was westbound on Highway 20 when it went out of control on a patch of ice and entered the median sideways, rolled coming to rest back on its wheels. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Taylor car was estimated at $8,000.

On Jan. 17, a car driven by a 15-year-old male from Grundy Center was westbound on 280th Street approaching the intersection with Nickel Avenue when it went through the stop sign, ramped a snowbank and partially entered the north ditch. No injuries were reported. The male juvenile was cited for violation of a restricted license and failure to obey a stop sign. Damage to the 15-year-old's car was estimated at $2,000.

Accidents

On Friday, a small school bus driven by Ralph William Hill, of Albion, was stopped at the stop sign at 18th Avenue and East Anson Street when it entered the intersection turning south and collided with a pickup driven by Christopher Wayne Kadner, 2834 Merle Hibbs Blvd., which was traveling south on 18th Avenue. No injuries were reported. Hill was cited for failure to yield from a stop sign. Damage to the Hill bus was estimated at $250 while the Kadner pickup received an estimated $2,000 in damage.

On Thursday, an unknown vehicle driven by an unknown driver struck a legally parked car in front of 1509 Marion St. Apt. E4, and left the scene. No injuries were reported. Damage to the legally parked car was estimated $1,800.

On Jan. 21, a car driven by a 17-year-old female from Marshalltown was westbound on East Anson Street approaching the intersection with South Third Avenue when it attempted to stop and began a slide into the rear of a vehicle driven by Angela Marie Hahn-Popelka, of Toledo, which was stopped at the intersection. Hahn-Popelka was transported to Marshalltown Medical & Surgical Center with possible injuries. The female juvenile was cited for failure to stop within the assured, clear distance. Damage to the 17-year-old's car was estimated at $2,000 while the Hahn-Popelka vehicle received an estimated $500 in damage.

On Jan. 21, a pickup driven by Shelby Leann See, 1836 Marsh Ave., was southbound on South Center Street in the outside lane when the icy conditions caused it to slide sideways into the path of a car driven by Donovan Eugene Rhodes, of Conrad, which was traveling south in the inside lane causing it to collide with the driver's side door and sending the passenger side of the See pickup into the traffic control signal pole. See was possibly injured, but not transported. Damage to both vehicles was estimated at $3,000 each.

Sunday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two dispatched/cancelled en route to Highway 30 and 112 College Drive, and nine medical assists with the EMS crew to: 101 NewCastle Road, 201 W. Southridge Road, 20 W. Iowa Ave., 705 Circle Drive, 406 Eastview Road, 208 N. Fourth St., 709 Noble St., 705 Circle Drive, and 302 S. Second Ave.

Saturday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to three medical assists with the EMS crew to: 1706 S. Seventh Ave., 2907 S. Sixth St., and 1500 Lincoln Towers Circle.

Friday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to two fire calls to 1103 W. Washington St., and 406 Melody Lane, two dispatched/cancelled en route to 502 Plaza Heights Road, and 408 E. Linn St., and eight medical assists with the EMS crew to: 601 S. 15th Ave., 915 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., 1500 Lincoln Tower Circle, 304 1/2 W. State St., 401 S. Fourth St., 3303 S. Center St., 406 Pleasantview Road, and 3120 S. Second St.

Thursday

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a smoke or odor removal at 105 1/2 W. Grant St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 208 E. Webster St., 108 Washington St., 202 N. Second Ave., 125 S. 11th St., and 607 Union St.
