Man headlocks his girlfriend
A Marshalltown man who allegedly headlocked his girlfriend is charged with aggravated domestic assault.
Ryan Chaplin, 33, was arrested Thursday, after witnesses reported to police that he was seen assaulting his girlfriend outside of The Villager, 105 N. Center St., Wednesday night.
Capt. Chris Jones, with the Marshalltown Police Department, said the incident left the victim with bruises and marks on her face, arms and back, however, she did not require medical attention.
Chaplin is currently being held in the Marshall County Jail on a $2,000 surety bond.
Man pushes girlfriend to the ground
After allegedly pushing his girlfriend to the ground, a man landed a serious domestic assault charge.
Richard Sandifer, 46, of Marshalltown, was arrested Saturday, for the alleged incident.
Capt. Chris Jones, with the Marshalltown Police Department, said after the victim fell, her hip hurt and she was left with a cut on her elbow.
The victim, however, did not require medical attention.

Christopher M. Young, of State Center, made an initial appearance on a driving under suspension charge. He pleaded not guilty and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Aug. 26 in Magistrate Court.
Jose Hernandez Martinez, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a failure to have a valid driver' license or permit charge and a no insurance charge. He pleaded guilty to the failure to have a driver's license and the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330, due within 30 days of today's date. Hernandez Martinez pleaded not guilty to the no insurance charge and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Aug. 11 in Magistrate Court.
Marc Plettenberg, address unknown, made an initial appearance on a dog at large charge and a failure to vaccinate for rabies charge. He pleaded not guilty to both and a pre-trial conference is scheduled at 9 a.m. on Aug. 19 in Magistrate Court.
Tonyika Lewis, 303 1/2 S. Fourth Ave., made an initial appearance on a public intoxication charge. She pleaded guilty and the fine is $65 with a $22.75 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $147.75, due within 30 days of today's date.
Santiago Angel, 538 N. Third St., made an initial appearance on a failure to have a valid driver's license charge. He pleaded guilty and the fine is $200 with a $70 surcharge and $60 in court costs for a total of $330, due within 30 days of today's date. The court allowed for exoneration of the bond and allowed for the application of the money to the fine with any remainder returned to the defendant.
Marshalltown Police Department
On Friday, an employee at K-Mart, 1720 S. Center St., reported the theft and recovery of a Sony PS3 game system and three controllers valued at $219.96.
On Thursday, Connie Snider, 3034 Garwin Road, reported the theft of a mattress and box spring set, a Hoover Gold shampoo and vacuum, a vacuum cleaner, an electric fire place and an Element 32 inch flatscreen TV from 3 S. Fourth St. Apt. #5. Estimated value of loss was $1,200.
On Saturday, Edgar Lee Andrews, of Johnston, was cited for driving while barred.
On Wednesday, a 17-year-old male from Marshalltown was cited for possession of a Schedule I controlled substance-marijuana.
On Sunday, Lashawn Doncel Scates, 1112 W. Lincolnway Apt. #2, was arrested for shoplifting.
On Saturday, Darrell Demetris Glass, Homeless, was arrested for public intoxication.
On Saturday, Richard Sandifer, 211 N. Third Ave., was arrested for serious domestic assault.
On Thursday, Steven Ray Lund, 311 N. Third Ave. Apt. #2, was arrested for harassment-third degree.
On Saturday, a vehicle driven by Daniel Brian Perry, 604 N. Second Ave., was parking and backed into a drain pipe for the Third Street viaduct, dislodging it from the bridge underneath the viaduct. No injuries were reported. Damage to the Perry vehicle was estimated at $900 while the drain pipe belonging to the city of Marshalltown received an estimated $900 in damage.
On Thursday, a pickup driven by Michael Stewart Perry, 1013 S. First Ave., was southbound on Sixth Street when it collided with the rear of a car driven by Lacey Marie Miller, 1107 May St. No injuries were reported. Perry was cited for following too close. Damage to the Perry pickup was estimated at $1,000 while the Miller car received an estimated $3,000 in damage.

The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a building fire at 609 E. Southridge Road, a dispatched/cancelled en route to 605 S. Seventh Ave., a natural vegetation fire at 503 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., and four medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3202 S. 12th St., 1211 W. State St., 202 N. Second Ave., and 903 Radcliffe Drive.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a passenger vehicle fire at 1 E. Main St., and five medical assists with the EMS crew to: 500 block of South Center Street, 504 Iowa Ave. W., 2204 Wakefield Drive, 1900 E. Anson St., and 3402 S. Center St.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to a good intent call at 1614 W. State St., and six medical assists with the EMS crew to: 3202 S. 12th St., 134 E. Main St., 3700 S. Center St., 3120 S. Second St., 7 Marion St., and 2005 Wardview Road.
The Marshalltown Fire Department responded to 11 medical assists with the EMS crew to: 116 N. First St., 104 W. Webster St., 705 W. Iowa Ave., 3202 S. 12th St., 307 S. First St., 1108 W. Iowa Ave., 917 W. Merle Hibbs Blvd., 1107 W. State St., 101 W. Iowa Ave., 1 E. Main St., and 7 Marion St.
