Taking care of your delicious fish

August 16, 2014

Summer and early fall are excellent times to target panfish. Anglers all over Iowa are catching bluegills and crappies to take home and enjoy them for a meal. While some will throw back almost everything they catch, others choose to keep some for a meal. If you do decide to keep some fish to eat, you must take the proper precautions to ensure that the fish will taste great. The first thing to consider when keeping fish, is the size of the fish. It is a fact that medium-sized fish will taste better. Make sure and throw the smaller fish back to swim another day, and consider getting a picture of that big bluegill or crappie and then releasing it back into the water, too.
