South Hardin football starts with a win

ELDORA – Hunter Nessa’s 14-yard touchdown run accounted for the game’s only score as the South Hardin football team opened the season with a 7-0 win over South Hamilton here Friday night.

The Tigers amassed just 138 yards of total offense, but that was good enough. The South Hardin defense had four quarterback sacks and Alex Gustafson recovered a fumble to help his team preserve the victory.

Nessa’s 47 rushing yards led the Tigers, while junior quarterback Kolten Rewoldt finished 3-for-4 passing for 38 yards and an interception. Kevin Rewoldt caught two passes for 30 yards.

Dane Butler had eight solo tackles and three assisted stops to lead the defense. Ryland Duchane had six solo tackles, four assists and two quarterback sacks. Tyrell Todd had six solo stops.

South Hardin goes on the road this Friday for its final non-district game at Grundy Center.
