Rebels stop Falcons on penalty kicks

REINBECK — The Grundy Center/Gladbrook-Reinbeck needed a little extra time, and then some, as the Rebels won 2-1 by penalty kicks against Aplington-Parkersburg on Monday night.

Madison McMartin had the lone goal in regulation, assisted by Marina Strohbehn. She then nabbed two penalty kicks while Strohbehn had the other to lead the Rebels (5-5).

Carsen Hamann was in the Rebels, as she turned away 14 saves Monday. As a team, GC/G-R posted 19 shots on goal.

The Rebels head to a tournament in Waverly on Saturday, beginning at 9 a.m.
