Richardson wins shot as ’Cats finish 4th at CIML

JOHNSTON — Maddux Richardson helped lead the Marshalltown boys’ track and field team to a fourth-place finish at Thursday’s CIML Iowa Conference meet.

Richardson threw for 53 feet, 7 1/2 inches in the shot put to take home the CIML Iowa title. Richardson also took second place in the discus, throwing 150-7.

Tyler Reeder also took runner-up in the 110 hurdles, running a 16.26 for eight team points. The Bobcats collectively scored 49.5 points.

The shuttle hurdle relay for the Bobcats took fourth, comprised of Ryan Huffman, Reeder, Giorgio Diiorio and Dylan Eygabroad. The relay ran a 1:04.68.

The 4×200 relay of Josh Melde, Wyatt Himes, Noah DeVenney and Braden Bethke also took fourth in a time of 1:36.16. Bethke, Melde, DeVenney and TJ Snyder took fourth as well in the 4×100 relay, running a 45.71.

The 4×800 relay (8:59.20) and the distance medley relay (4:13.90) each took fifth place for two team points apiece. The 4×400 relay also took fifth (3:43.83). Melde was fifth as well with a jump of 5-4 in the high jump.
