Trojan girls win eighth-straight meet

NEVADA — The West Marshall girls’ track and field team won its eighth-straight meet and nine of 10 meets this season with the win at the Nevada Invitational on Monday with a final total of 181 points.

Isabelle Gradwell led the Trojans with 26 individual points as she won the 100-meter hurdles (16.47 seconds), the 400 hurdles (1:10.62), placed fifth in the high jump (4 foot, 8 inches) and helped the shuttle hurdle relay to second place (1:11.18).

The Trojans grabbed two more relay wins in the 4×200 (Emma Meyer, Avril Sinning, Kayla Cripps and Allison Hilleman; 1:50.09), the 4×800 (Sinning, Grace Girard, Hana Hohnstein and Georgia Porter; 10:37.28). They were second in the 4×100 and the 4×400.

Allison Hilleman added to her accolades with wins in the 100 (13.11) and the 200 (27.41). Cripps won the 400 open in 1:03.81 and Renae Schaper won the shot put at 35-8.

The GMG girls were also on hand, finishing fifth with 60 points. Belle Duncan had 8.5 of them while Katie Airey and Kyla Wilkening had 8.25.

Belle Duncan took fourth in the 200 (29.02) for five team points and Airey was also fourth in the 100 (13.68). Wilkening was third in the 800 (2:41.59).
