Bobcat boys bowlers down Urbandale for seventh-straight

Marshalltown’s Kamrin Chizek ends one pin shy of 300

DES MOINES — The Marshalltown boys bowling team earned yet another victory this season when it traveled south to take on Urbandale at Merle Hay Lanes, but the Bobcats were pushed in the meet for the first time this season, taking a narrow 3,246 to 3,051 win over the J-Hawks.

Kamrin Chizek was the top MHS Bowler for the second time this season, rolling a series total 522, though he finished his second game one pin shy of a perfect score with a 299.

Joshua Arment rolled a 437 series and Ray Wiegand a 430 for the next top scores, while Lucas Kramer had a 396, Carson Potter a 384 and Jonathan McKeever a 319.

What truly helped push Marshalltown (7-0) over Urbandale (2-2) was a great showing in the Baker games, as the Bobcats threw a 1,077 total in the four games for their highest Baker total of the season.

The MHS girls were in action as well against the J-Hawks, and after winning five-straight meets the Bobcat girls had their streak snapped by Urbandale (3-1), losing 2,588 to 2,373.

Ashly Wiegand assumed the top spot for Marshalltown (5-2) with her series of 325, followed by Haley Bell with a 313, Karlie Potter with a 305, Emily Diggins’ 304, Ali Olinger’s 289 and ShayeLyn Pickett’s 276.

The girls also had a season-high in their Baker games, as they rolled a combined 837 in the five games, helped by a season-high 212 in the penultimate game.

Marshalltown bowling is now done until after the winter break, when Bobcats return to the lanes to face Johnston at home on Jan. 4.
