MCC men speed past Roadrunners

SEDALIA, Mo. — The Marshalltown men’s basketball team headed south to take on a struggling State Fair Community College team that had lost its last four matches.

That streak extended to five games after the Tigers walked away with a 74-68 victory over the Roadrunners.

Mohamed Thiam went 10-for-14 shooting, including a 3-for-6 mark from behind the 3-point line, on his way to a team-high 23 points. Gordan Vidovic also had 14 to help the MCC effort, while Javarcus Word, Bassirou Ndiaye and Kelton Edwards all had nine.

“I thought we played well tonight,” head coach Brynjar Brynjarsson said. “We played a complete game, offensively and defensively. With our final regular season game this weekend and then the regional tournament starting Monday, I think we are a good spot.”

State Fair was led by Tyreek Scott-Grayson, who had 23 points off the bench for the Roadrunners on 8-for-9 shooting from the floor. AJ Walker also had a good night for State Fair with 19 points.

The Tigers will be back in action Saturday, when they travel to Norfolk, Neb., for their final ICCAC regular season game, taking on Northeast Community College starting at 7 p.m.
