Rebels topple Redhawks in regionals
REINBECK — The Gladbrook-Reinbeck girls’ basketball team beat North Tama for the second time in the last two weeks, topping the Redhawks 61-50 in Thursday’s Class 1A Region 3 first-round game.
The Rebels (7-16), who beat North Tama 55-47 in Traer on Jan. 27, advance to face either Clarksville or Waterloo Christian in Tuesday’s regional quarterfinals in Clarksville.
Taylor Gienger scored a team-leading 23 points for Gladbrook-Reinbeck, which ended a four-game losing streak with its postseason-opening win. Megan Swanson finished with 15 points and Saari Kuehl added 14 more for the Rebels.
No statistics were available for North Tama (2-20), which ended the season on a seven-game slide.
