Cyclone trio honored on all-Big 12 basketball

IRVING, Texas — Iowa State had three players recognized on the Big 12’s all-conference men’s basketball teams, including a pair of honors for freshman Lindell Wigginton.

Wigginton was named to the Big 12’s All-Newcomer Team and was joined by Cameron Lard and Donovan Jackson as Cyclones chosen to the honorable mention all-conference squad.

Wigginton is the first ISU freshman since Curtis Stinson in 2004 to be named to the newcomer squad. Wigginton became the eighth Big 12 freshman to score more than 300 points during conference play.

Jackson, a senior from Milwaukee, made 93 3-pointers to rank fifth on ISU’s single-season charts.

Lard, a redshirt freshman, set the school’s rookie record with 60 blocked shots. He’s averaging 12.5 points, 8.2 rebounds and 2.1 blocks.

Iowa State’s next game is in the Big 12 Championships in Kansas City, Mo., when the Cyclones face Texas in an 8 p.m. first-round pairing.
