Iowa State’s Jakolby Long to transfer
AMES — Iowa State men’s basketball player Jakolby Long intends to transfer to another school.
The 6-foot-5 sophomore guard from suburban Oklahoma City averaged 1.9 points in 9.5 minutes over 22 games this season despite ample opportunities to earn his way into a thin rotation. Head coach Steve Prohm announced the transfer Tuesday.
Iowa State will also add three highly-touted freshman guards as freshmen next season and Virginia transfer Marial Shayok, a shooting guard like Long, will be eligible next winter.
“We appreciate Jakolby’s effort and hard work for our program,” Prohm said. “He has been a good teammate and we wish him the best as he moves forward academically and athletically.”
The Cyclones finished 13-18 this season and missed the NCAA Tournament after six consecutive appearances.
