South Hardin’s Zeisneiss finishes 17th in discus

DES MOINES — South Hardin junior Brylie Zeisneiss finished up her Drake Relays in the discus on Friday.

This was the first discus competition in the Relays for Zeisneiss, as she only qualified in the shot put her sophomore season.

She placed 17th in the event with a distance of 116 feet, 9 inches, just one day removed from taking third in the shot put on Thursday.

Rose, Northwestern 4×800 places 4th

Northwestern College senior Tim Rose, a former South Hardin athlete, ran the second leg of the men’s 4×800 for the Red Raiders on Friday after winning the unseeded 1,500 on Thursday at the Drake Relays.

Northwestern placed fourth in the event with a time of 7:42.93.

Vawter competes for Griffons

Missouri Western junior and former BCLUW athlete Mallory Vawter was in action at the Drake Relays on Friday, competing in the long jump and the sprint medley.

Vawter’s best performance came in the sprint medley, where she and the Griffons placed sixth with a time of 4:10.88. She also finished 22nd in the long jump with a distance of 17-4 1/4.

Kalinay finishes 11th in hurdles

Simpson College senior and former South Tama County athlete Dylan Kalinay competed in two events on Friday in the Drake Relays.

First, Kalinay ran with the Storm in the 4×100 relay, finishing in 16th with a time of 42.41. Then Kalinay ran by himself, placing 11th in the 110 hurdles with a time of 14.65.
