Tigers baseball dropped twice by No. 7 Reivers

COUNCIL BLUFFS — The Marshalltown Community College baseball team traveled west for the start of a four-game series against Iowa Western on Saturday.

In game one of the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference doubleheader, the Tigers were beaten solidly by the Reivers, 15-0. Game two was closer, but Iowa Western (39-5, 17-0) still managed a 6-0 victory over MCC (8-25, 6-11).

The Tigers only managed one hit in game one, compared to 10 hits for 15 runs from the Reivers. Jose Mieses and Jeffry Roldan were the lone players to put a ball in play.

Game two the offense didn’t fare much better, with Candido Encarnacion, Joe Monosmith and Reece Blay recording the only hits of the evening. Where MCC did do better was on the mound, however, as Christopher Lopez went four and 2/3 innings giving up just six hits and four earned runs while striking out two.

The Tigers face off with Iowa Western in another doubleheader today, starting at noon in Council Bluffs.
