North Tama baseball blanked by Hudson
ALBURNETT — Hudson scored the game’s only run in the bottom of the second inning and the Pirates advanced past North Tama, 1-0, in Thursday’s Class 1A District 6 semifinal baseball game.
Lance Zobel scattered five hits across a complete-game pitching performance for the Redhawks (16-10), but an unearned run in the second frame foiled North Tama’s chances of advancing.
The Redhawks managed just two hits in the season-ending defeat as Skyler Staker and Luke Pennell accounted for singles, and Ryan McLean took a base on balls. Zobel walked two and struck out four as the hard-luck loser.
Hudson’s Jacob Murray struck out 12 in the shutout. Ben Kelly went 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in Trey Jochumsen as the game’s only run. CJ Christopher finished 2-for-2 with a double.
Hudson (19-9) and district host Alburnett (33-6) will meet in Saturday’s 7 p.m. final in a battle between Pirates. Fifth-ranked Alburnett eliminated Janesville 3-0 in their semifinal pairing.
