4 Panthers on MVFC preseason team

ST. LOUIS — University of Northern Iowa football’s Briley Moore, Marcus Weymiller, Isaiah Weston and Cal Twait were named to the Missouri Valley Football Conference 2018 preseason offense all-league teams.

Moore earned first-team recognition while Weymiller, Weston and Twait earned spots on the second team.

Moore saw action in all of UNI’s 13 games last season at tight end. He caught 38 passes for 494 yards and had at least two receptions in eight games. His 38 catches were the most receptions by a Panther tight end in a decade.

Weymiller was named a CoSIDA All-America second-team honors last year, despite missing the first part of the season due to injury. He recorded more than 100 rushing yards in four games, ran the ball 200 times and earned 809 total yards rushing and eight scores. Weymiller also caught 11 passes for 100 yards. His best game came in a 42-carry, 170-yard, two-touchdown game in a win over South Dakota State.

Weston, a sophomore wideout, played in all 13 games last season as a redshirt freshman. he scored five touchdowns and recorded 380 yards on 22 catches. He was also named to the all-MVFC newcomer team.

Twait enters his senior year as a Panther offensive lineman. He was a preseason all-MVFC honorable mention last year but battled injuries throughout the year. He started eight games at left tackle and helped propel UNI to 1,920 yards on the ground and 3,063 yards passing.
