SPORTS SHORTS: Rebels net NICL West win vs. Mustangs
REINBECK — The Gladbrook-Reinbeck volleyball team earned its first NICL West Division win of the season with a three-set victory over East Marshall on Tuesday, 25-15, 25-11, 25-21.
Saari Kuehl had 20 kills in the win for the Rebels (8-3, 1-1), while Haleigh Berendes had four and Rachael Scarf had three. Madison Denny-Weber recorded 28 assists, while Rachel Cooley had two aces on 20-for-22 serving for G-R.
Ranked CPU volleyball sweeps Trojans
CENTER POINT — The South Tama County volleyball team lost a WaMaC Conference West Division match to Class 3A No. 12 Center Point-Urbana on Tuesday in three sets, 25-13, 25-12, 25-9.
Madison Rohach led the Trojans (2-10, 0-2) in kills with seven, while Stacey Slave had five and Jaelin Berger three.
Katie Campbell led in assists with 12, while Rohach was the top defender with nine digs, followed by Katie Campbell and Ashlynn Ellenbecker with seven apiece.
