PREP VOLLEYBALL: Trojans taken out by Iowa Falls-Alden

IOWA FALLS — The West Marshall volleyball team fell to Class 3A No. 10 Iowa Falls-Alden in the 3A Region 4 tournament in three sets on Wednesday, 25-23, 25-17, 25-14.

With the win, the Cadets (27-6) eliminate the Trojans (17-18) from the postseason for a second-straight season.

Teresa Disney had a team-high 10 kills for West Marshall, followed by Renae Schaper with eight, Attiyah Lazard with six and Addi Moore with five. Lazard’s six kills came on just eight attempts.

Disney also had five aces on 12-for-13 serving, and she had a block.

Hana Hohnstein had a team-high 31 assists and she added four kills.

Darah Willis was the lead defender with 13 digs, followed by Schaper with five and Hohnstein with three.

Gabrielle Damiano, Grace Renaud and Josie Williams each had eight kills for IF-A, while Jenny Wibholm had seven. The Cadets really got it done at the net, as they had 12 total block, led by Damiano’s five.

South Tama edged out by Williamsburg

WILLIAMSBURG — The South Tama County volleyball team lost to Williamsburg in five sets in the Class 3A Region 6 Tournament on Wednesday, 18-25, 25-19, 25-23, 19-25, 15-13.

The Trojans (12-30) were tied with the Raiders (19-17) at 13-all in the final set, but an errant serve and an attack in the net by South Tama brought their season to a close.

Williamsburg advances to play at No. 2 Tipton on Tuesday in the regional quarterfinals.
