PREP HOOPS: East Marshall girls end lengthy losing streak

LE GRAND — The East Marshall girls basketball ended a seven-game losing streak on Friday with a 57-21 win over NICL West Division foe South Hardin.

Olivia Terrones had 25 points and five rebounds to help the Mustangs (7-12, 3-8) get back on the winning side, while Melinda Puumala followed with 10 points and four rebounds. Freshman Ellie Hull also chipped in a career-high seven points.

Kiera Anderson had seven points to lead the Tigers (1-18, 0-11).

BCLUW 40, AGWSR 33

ACKLEY — The BCLUW girls basketball team beat Class 1A No. 12 AGWSR in an NICL West Division showdown on Friday, 40-33.

Katie Thompson had a career-high 19 points as well as five rebounds and four steals as the Comets (10-9, 7-4) led throughout the contest. Madi Ubben had nine points and a team-high seven rebounds and two blocks, and Allison Engle had eight points.

Alyssa Hames had a double-double of 11 points and 11 rebounds to pace the Cougars (12-7, 6-5), while Aubrie Fisher followed with 10 points.

Dike-New Hartford 49, West Marshall 35

STATE CENTER — The West Marshall girls basketball team fell to Class 2A No. 7 Dike-New Hartford at home on Friday, 49-35.

The Trojans (11-7) had a two-point lead after the first quarter, but they were outscored 24-12 in the second by the Wolverines (17-2), which built a deficit they were never able to climb out of.

Kayla Cripps had 13 points to lead West Marshall, and she finished with four rebounds, three steals and three assists. Karlyn Snider followed with seven points while Teresa Disney had six points and five rebounds.

Ellie Foster had 17 points to pace Dike-New Hartford and Katie Knock followed with nine.

BOYS

Dike-New Hartford 75, West Marshall 61

STATE CENTER — The West Marshall boys basketball team lost to Class 2A No. 9 Dike-New Hartford at home on friday, 75-61.

Cameron Bannister had 23 points, eight rebounds and five assists to lead the Trojans (13-7) while Joe Halverson had 16 points and eight rebounds.

Colton Harberts had 30 points to pace the Wolverines (18-1) while Cade Fuller followed with 17.

West Marshall starts the postseason on Monday with a home game against Waterloo Christian at 8 p.m., with East Marshall and Sumner-Fredericksburg preceeding at 6:30 p.m.
