Field events lead MHS boys track

ANKENY — The Marshalltown boys track and field team finished ninth out of 10 teams at the Fred Smith Hawk Relays on Tuesday with 19 points.

The field events made up the bulk of the points for the Bobcats, with one placing in particular garnering eight of their 19 points.

Dru Dobbins returned to the team with his best discus throw of the year, finishing second with a heave of 147 feet, 5 inches.

Dwight Joar also matched his season best in the high jump, placing fourth with a vault of 5-10.

The 4×800-meter relay team was the top relay for Marshalltown, with the team of Bennett O’Hare, Brent Johnson, Zach Bitker and Marshall Weeden running a season-best 8:44.22 to take fifth.
