MCC guard Edwards is honorable mention All-American

Kelton Edwards

CHARLOTTE, N.C. — The Marshalltown Community College men’s basketball team has an All-American for the second consecutive year.

MCC sophomore swingman Kelton Edwards has been named to the National Junior College Athletic Association’s All-America honorable mention list, following up Mohamed Thiam’s third-team selection from a year ago.

Edwards, a 6-foot-5, 185-pound guard from Dallas, led the Iowa Community College Athletic Conference in scoring this past winter with an average of 18.4 points per game, and finished the season averaging 18.5 ppg overall. He is just the sixth player in school history to be named NJCAA All-American.

Edwards earned first-team all-ICCAC honors this season, averaging an additional 5.5 rebounds per game in conference play en route to his first postseason accolade.

Edwards and Thiam represent the first back-to-back Tiger All-Americans since Tyler Brown was selected to the honorable mention squad in 2010 and the second team in 2011.
