BCLUW boys finish second at NICL West meet

ELDORA — The BCLUW boys track and field team came in second out of six teams at the NICL West Division meet at South Hardin on Thursday with 136 team points.

Comet senior and Iowa State commit Jack Garber once again dominated the hurdles, winning the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 14.58 seconds and the 400 hurdles in 56.97. He also took second in the 100 with a season-best 11.24.

BCLUW also won the shuttle hurdle with Coby Willett, Koty Kruse, Neifer Ralston and Garber combining to run a 1:02.49.

Senior Caleb Silver also picked up a pair of wins by running a 4:53.26 to prevail in the 1,600 and a season-best 10:13.5 to cross the line first in the 3,200. Ruben Montoya finished in third in the 1,600 and he won the 800 with a time of 2:06.34.

The Comets won the 4×100 as well with the team of Ben Paper, Carson Hoffman, Joe Mason and Jesse Moore running a 46.75.

East Marshall was fourth in the meet with 73 team points. The sprint medley team of Landon Elliott, Gage Hulin, Austin Elliott and Korbin Seth finished second for the Mustangs with a time of 1:38.98, and the distance medley team of Landon Elliott, Isaac Plaehn, Hulin and Cam Hungerford was also second in 3:53.8.

Hulin had the best individual finish for East Marshall by placing second in the long jump with a vault of 20 feet, 7 inches, and Seth came in third with a distance of 19-2 3/4. Austin Elliott also placed third in both the 100 and 200.

West Marshall was fifth on the team standings with 64 points. The Trojans won a pair of relays, with the 4×200 team of Brian Morrison, Jake Tollefson, Jarrin Goecke and Cameron Bannister running a season-best 1:33.77 and the sprint medley relay team of Morrison, Josh Larsen, Tollefson and Bannister crossing the line in 1:38.05.

The 4×400 team of Morrison, Tollefson, Goecke and Bannister was second in 3:34.01, and Tollefson was second individually in the 200 with a 23.46.

Gladbrook-Reinbeck came in seventh out of seven teams with 13 points. The 4×200 team of Aiden Wyatt, Brett Pergande, Dylan Riffey and Keagan Giesking was fourth with a 1:44.32 and Giesking was fourth individually in the long jump with a distance of 18-6 3/4.
