Wings waive Gustafson to finalize opening roster
ARLINGTON, Texas — The Dallas Wings have waived forward Megan Gustafson and guard Kennedy Burke, the team announced Wednesday.
The Wings also moved Moriah Jefferson to the temporarily suspended list in order to finalize their roster for Opening Night, which for Dallas is Friday on the road at the Atlanta Dream.
Gustafson, a four-year starter from the University of Iowa, was the No. 17 overall pick in the 2019 WNBA Draft. Through the preseason, the Naismith Player of the Year averaged 2.6 points and 3.0 rebounds a game.
Burke, the 22nd overall pick from UCLA, appeared in three preseason games.
Gustafson led all of college basketball in scoring average (27.9) and field-goal percentage (69.6) in becoming the first player from the Big Ten Conference to be named the national player of the year.
