Top-ranked Waukee hammered out 29 hits in Wednesday’s doubleheader sweep of the Marshalltown softball team, beating the Bobcats 13-0 and 15-0 in three innings.

Class 5A’s No. 1 Warriors (23-1, 9-1) scored five times in the top of the first inning and kept up the pressure the rest of the night, hitting a total of three home runs and seven doubles during the two-game sweep.

Molly Jacobson threw a three-hit shutout in the first game for Waukee, striking out nine and walking one. Madi Finch was 2-for-3 to lead the Bobcats (5-17, 1-9) while Gabby Himes added a hit.

Kailee Pollard battled for seven innings in the circle for MHS, allowing six runs in the first two innings and then seven runs in the final two frames. She walked four and struck out one.

In the nightcap, Jacobson and pinch-hitter Macy Weiss homered against MHS pitchers Ella Grife and Avery Mull, respectively.

Elly Bates and Sami Felt combined on a one-hitter for the Warriors, with Himes bunting her way on in the third inning.
