Hatano’s hat trick helps MCC prevail

The Marshalltown Community College men’s soccer team opened the season with a 4-2 win over Lewis & Clark CC.

The Tigers’ first half effort and sophomore Jiroh Hatano’s hat trick helped put together MCC’s opening win.

MCC trailed 1-0 until Hatano scored his team’s first goal in the 16th minute. Sophomore Matheus Pereira and Hatano each scored to give the Tigers a 3-1 lead at halftime.

Hatano scored in the 56th minute to extend MCC’s lead, 4-1. The host Trailblazers added one more goal in the 60th minute to trim the final deficit.

The Tigers will travel to Jefferson College in Hillsboro, Mo. on Aug. 25 for a noon game.
