The Marshalltown girls swimming and diving team fell to No. 6 Johnson in a dual meet on Tuesday night, 133-53.

“Johnson is a great team that took it a little easy on us tonight,” head coach Angie Nelson said. “Our girls swam a little tired today but we had some good swims. Seventeen season best swims and 12 first time swims of the season.”

The Bobcats won two events with Cori Jorgenson with the 50-yard freestyle in 27.42 seconds. While Hannah Taylor won the 1-meter diving competition with a score of 255.05 points.

Compared to their dual meet last week against Cedar Rapids Washington, Taylor had a three-point improvement in an event that featured six divers while Taylor had a 1.6 second improvement.

In the 100-yard butterfly, Klaudia Hernandez finished in second place where she swam 1:10.91. Hernandez also finished in second place in the 100-yard breaststroke with a time of 1:19.35.

“Klaudia Hernandez had a season-best fly split in the medley and cut two second in a great 100-yard freestyle swim,” Nelson said. “Hannah Taylor took first in diving and upped her best score by three points. Keep looking for more good things from Hannah.”

The Bobcats also had a second-place finish in the 200-yard freestyle relay. The team comprised of Hernadez, CeCe Waltermire, Taylor Jones and Jorgenson swam a time of 1:53.07, which is a three-second improvement of the Bobcats’ fastest relay time of the season.

Marshalltown hosts the Bobcat Invite on Saturday with diving at 9:30 a.m. and swimming at 12:30 p.m.
