CONRAD — The Class 1A No. 14 BCLUW volleyball was swept by Aplington-Parkersburg on Thursday as the Comets lost 25-22, 25-22, 25-18 in the cross-NICL clash.

Lizzie Garber had 12 kills and 15 digs while Madison Ubben had 12 kills and 14 digs in the loss for the Comets (20-14). In total the Comets posted 70 digs in the match. Allison Engle tallied 32 assists.

BCLUW will return to action on Tuesday and host Colo-NESCO in 1A regional play.

East Marshall topples GMG in three

GARWIN — The East Marshall volleyball team got its first win in nearly three weeks with a 3-0 sweep of GMG, beating the host Wolverines 25-16, 25-19, 25-17 in Thursday’s regular-season finale for both teams.

Clare Veren led the Mustangs (4-25) with seven kills while serving 10-for-11 with three aces. Avery Moore added five kills and Rylee Freese finished with four kills, 11 digs and 12-for-12 serving with five aces.

Noelia Aguilera totaled 13 assists, Zoeie Fontanini had 10 digs, Emma Pfantz served 17-for-17 with two aces and J.J. Westendorf served 17-for-18 with five aces.
