Fans and friends are invited to a retirement party for former Marshalltown High School baseball coach Steve Hanson on Saturday, Nov. 2, from 2-5 p.m. at the American Legion Hall.

The event is open to any and all Bobcat fans. The 26-year head coach of the Marshalltown baseball team has requested no gifts, but that any attendees wear their favorite Bobcat gear.

Mustang football finishes with a loss

JESUP — The East Marshall football team closed out its season with a 27-6 loss to Jesup in the Class 1A District 6 matchup on Friday.

Quarterback Logan Bowie was 4-for-12 passing for 41 yards and an interception.

Garrett Kerber led the ground game with 30 yards on seven carries. Kerber also led the team in receiving with three catches going for 38 yards.

The Mustangs’ lone touchdown came from a 75-yard kickoff return by Dane Thompson.

Defensively, Samuel Bandstra led the team 15.5 total tackles, 13 of which were solo tackles. Hunter Vilez had a fumble recovery to go with his 2.5 total tackles.

East Marshall finished the season 1-8 overall and 0-6 in district play.
