ISU’s kicker picked for Big 12 honor
IRVING, Texas — Iowa State placekicker Connor Assalley was named the Big 12 Special Teams Player of the Week.
Assalley kicked the game-winning 36-yard field goal in the Cyclones’ 23-21 walkoff win over No. 22 Texas on Saturday at Jack Trice Stadium in Ames. Assalley was 2-for-2 on field goals and 2-for-2 on point-after kicks in the win. It was Iowa State’s first regulation walk-off score since 1983.
The junior posts a career field-goal percentage of 71.1 percent, which ranks him fourth in school history. His 27 made field goals rank him ninth in school history.
