Hawkeyes outlast Clemson in ACC/B1G

IOWA CITY — The University of Iowa women’s basketball team got back in the win column with a 74-60 victory over Clemson on Wednesday as part of the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.

“We’re thrilled to get this win,” Iowa head coach Lisa Bluder said. “We wanted to represent the Big Ten, we wanted to get this win in the [ACC/Big Ten] Challenge.”

Iowa (6-2) led for all but 1 minute, 25 seconds in the game as the Hawkeyes opened the game with a 22-18 lead at the end of the first quarter.

Leading the Hawkeyes was Monika Czinano, who scored a career-high of 24 points on 11-of-15 shooting from the field. Kathleen Doyle posted 15 points with nine assists, and Amanda Ollinger totaled 14 points with nine rebounds.

“Monika had a tremendous game, a career-high [in points], six rebounds,” Bluder said. “I also thought Amanda played well. Our inside game was outstanding, but I thought it was a great team win. We shot the ball pretty well from all areas.”

The Hawkeyes finished the game with 48.4 shooting percentage while outscoring Clemson (3-5) in the paint 40-22.
