IOWA CITY — The Iowa women’s basketball team made a turnover 10 seconds into the game and fouled North Carolina Central on its first shot attempt.

That’s about all that didn’t go the Hawkeyes’ way.

Iowa used a 10-0 run moments later to take the lead for good and walloped the Eagles 102-50 in Saturday’s non-conference basketball game inside Carver-Hawkeye Arena.

Four players scored in double figures as the Hawkeyes (8-2) rolled to their 26th consecutive home-court victory — a streak that ranks third in the nation.

Iowa faced little resistance from North Carolina Central (1-9), shooting a program-record 69.8 percent from the field (37-of-53) with assists on 32 of those 37 field goals.

Makenzie Meyer led the Hawkeyes with 19 points, Monika Czinano added 14 points, Kathleen Doyle had 13 points and nine assists, and Gabbie Marshall chipped in 11 points off the bench as Iowa’s reserves poured in 43 points. McKenna Warnock contributed nine points and redshirt freshman Kate Martin had a career-high eight points.

Amanda Ollinger finished with seven points and a team-leading seven rebounds as the Hawkeyes dominated on the boards, winning the battle 42-27.

Paulina Afriyie led the visiting Eagles with 10 points and seven rebounds.

The Hawkeyes have a week off to gear up for next Saturday’s home game against Drake. Iowa entertains the Bulldogs on Dec. 21 in a 6 p.m. game in Iowa City.
