SPORTS SHORTS: AGWSR outlasts East Marshall boys

ACKLEY — The East Marshall boys’ basketball team dropped its fourth game in a row to AGWSR in a 60-45 loss on Tuesday night in NICL West Division action.

After trailing 16-12 at the end of the first quarter, AGWSR outscored East Marshall 28-17 in the next two quarters. The Cougars (2-2, 2-1) capped their comeback win with a 20-point fourth quarter.

Logan Bowie had a double-double of 24 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Mustangs (1-5, 0-3).

STC boys still winless after loss to CPU

TAMA — The South Tama boys’ basketball team is still searching for its first win after losing to Center Point-Urbana 50-31 on Tuesday.

The Trojans (0-6) posted 12 points in the second quarter but it was the only time South Tama scored double-digits in a period. Eli Keahna had a team-leading 20 points to go with five rebounds for South Tama.

Fourth-ranked Pointers defeat Trojans

TAMA — The South Tama girls’ basketball lost to Class 4A No. 4 Center Point-Urbana 57-13 on Tuesday.

The Trojans (0-7) were outscored 15-4 and 22-6 in the first two quarters of the game.

Tylese Rosenberger led South Tama with six points, four rebounds and three steals.

Storm go 2-1, Redhawks 0-3 in quad

BROOKLYN — The South Hardin-BCLUW and North Tama wrestling teams competed in a quadrangular hosted by BGM on Tuesday.

South Hardin-BCLUW finished 2-1 in the meet defeating Belle Plaine 42-36 and North Tama 49-30 while losing to BGM 48-36.

Class 2A No. 6 Carter Kolthoff (106) went an undefeated 3-0 in the meet as well as No. 7 Taylor Kolthoff (120) also went undefeated. Javon Darden (126) and Kade Pekarek (160) also went undefeated in the meet.

North Tama went 0-3 in the meet. In addition to losing to SH-BCLUW, North Tama also lost to Belle Plaine 52-18 and BGM 54-30.

Going undefeated for the Redhawks was Zane Nelson (132) and Cory Isenhower (152). Noah Weber went 2-1 at 160.
