The Marshalltown Community College women’s basketball team returned from the holiday break with a 94-43 victory over the Graceland University junior varsity squad Tuesday night at the Student Activity Center.

The Tigers (5-10) snapped a three-game skid by outscoring the Yellowjackets 51-19 in the first half. MCC amassed 30 points in the second quarter alone in the first of two meetings between the teams this season.

All nine MCC players scored at least six points in the victory, led by 19 points from Dana Stokes and 17 from Eva Carballo. Carla Collado knocked down three 3-pointers and had 11 points, while Eva Zaragoza had her first collegiate double-double with 10 points and 11 rebounds.

The MCC women start a three-game road swing with Saturday’s trip to Quincy, Ill., for a 2 p.m. game against John Wood CC.
