Tigers trounced by Lakers

ESTHERVILLE — Four players scored in double figures as 10th-ranked Iowa Lakes defeated the Marshalltown Community College men’s basketball team 89-63 on Saturday.

The Lakers (22-4) were led by Malcolm Clayton’s 17 points and Justin Brookens added another 16. Dillon Carlson and Josh English both added 10 points off the bench for Iowa Lakes, which overcame 24 turnovers by shooting 46.2 percent from the field (30-for-65). The Lakers splashed in 11 of their 23 3-point attempts (47.8 percent) and thumped MCC on the boards, 51-22.

Eric Amandio scored a game-high 22 points to lead the Tigers (5-23), who have lost six-straight. Jaylin Scott added 14 points off the bench but was 3-for-15 shooting, while Caleb Jacobs tallied 13 points and shared the team lead with six rebounds.

MCC plays Wednesday at John Wood CC.
