Marshalltown Speedway delays start of racing

The Marshalltown Speedway has pushed back the start of its racing season to May 7 with the Dale DeFrance Memorial.

The Speedway’s website said that in accordance with President Donald Trump’s decision to extend the social distancing recommendation through April, the Marshalltown Speedway and Boone Speedway would both be clearing their schedules for the month.

Boone’s racing slate will kick off on May 9 for its Saturday Night Series points opener.

“With the safety and well-being of all our racers, fans and staff, we are hoping that these dates are accomplishable with everyone doing their part to help stop the spread of the COVID-19 virus,” the website read.

Marshalltown’s racing schedule was supposed to begin with Sunday’s open practice and Friday’s IMCA Frostbuster.
