Marshalltown High School’s annual athletic fundraiser golf outing has been canceled due to ongoing concerns of the coronavirus pandemic.

MHS athletic director Ryan Isgrig announced the cancellation of the event in an email and in a tweet on Monday, calling off the 18-hole, four-person best shot golf tournament that had originally been scheduled for June 16 at the American Legion Memorial Golf Course.

“As we continue to grapple with the presence of COVID-19, we must remain vigilant in our attempts to mitigate the spread and keep our community as safe as possible,” Isgrig stated. “Our collaborative decision also involved the challenge of the overall logistics of the event and the solicitation of local businesses/supporters during a tough economic time.

“We hope our continued efforts to practice social distancing will lead to a healthy and strong start for upcoming MHS activities.”
