Brock Purdy

NEW ORLEANS — Iowa State junior quarterback Brock Purdy was added to the preseason Manning Award watch list, announced Thursday by the Allstate Sugar Bowl.

The Manning Award is given annually to the nation’s best quarterback. It is the only college quarterback award that includes the candidates’ bowl performances and is presented following the conclusion of the bowl season.

Purdy, who was also named to the Davey O’Brien Award, Maxwell Award and Wuerffel Trophy watch lists, returns as one of the nation’s best quarterbacks in 2020 after leading the Cyclones to back-to-back bowl games.

Purdy led the Big 12 and ranked fourth nationally in passing yardage (306.3) in 2019. He currently owns 21 school records.
