BCLUW girls succumb to AGWSR in conference play
ACKLEY — The AGWSR girls’ basketball team completed the season sweep of BCLUW with Friday’s 49-30 victory over the Comets in NICL West Division play.
Alyssa Hames had a double-double of 20 points and 10 rebounds to lead the previously ranked Cougars (8-3, 5-1). Grace Finger finished with 14 points and seven rebounds, and MaKenna Kuper contributed seven points in the win.
Allison Engle tallied team-highs of 15 points and nine rebounds for BCLUW (5-76, 2-4), which struggled to stay with AGWSR without the services of junior post Chloe Walters. Walters, the Comets’ second-leading scorer, missed the game due to an ankle injury.
Lizzie Garber contributed eight points and Betula Messerly finished with three points and five rebounds. Katie Hill and Anistyn Borsch-Rash both made a basket.
BCLUW returns home to host GMG in a non-conference game on Saturday, with varsity action starting at 5 p.m.
