EVANSVILLE, Ind. — The Drake women’s basketball team completed a series sweep of Evansville with Friday’s 76-43 rout inside Meeks Family Fieldhouse.

Grace Berg powered the Bulldogs with a career-high 27 points, while the Drake (5-6, 3-1) defense held Evansville (4-5, 0-4) to its season-low scoring output.

Rylie Stephens stepped up off the bench to lead Evansville with 14 points in the loss. Abby Feit finished with 12 points.

The Bulldogs beat Evansville 74-50 on Thursday night.

Drake returns to the Knapp Center to host Indiana State Jan. 15-16.

UNI 79, Valparaiso 71

VALPARAISO, Ind. — Karli Rucker scored a career-high 32 points and the Northern Iowa women’s basketball team earned a split with Valparaiso, beating the Crusaders 79-71 in Friday’s Missouri Valley Conference clash.

Rucker finished 11-for-19 from the field with three 3-pointers and a 7-for-10 performance at the free-throw line, helping the Panthers (6-5, 3-1) avenge Thursday’s 63-56 loss to Valpo (5-4, 1-1).

Northern Iowa led 39-24 at the half and got out to a 19-point advantage in the third quarter. Valparaiso, led by Shay Frederick’s 26 points, got no closer than six points the rest of the way as the Panthers shot 7-for-8 from the free-throw line down the stretch.

Carie Weinman netted 19 points for Valparaiso and Grace White added 16 more for the Crusaders.

Northern Iowa returns to action with a home series against Missouri State on Jan. 15-16.
