LOS ANGELES — Iowa State junior forward Ashley Joens and University of Iowa freshman guard Caitlin Clark have both been named to the Wooden Award Midseason Top-25 Watch List, the John R. Wooden Award announced Wednesday.

Joens ranks fifth nationally in scoring, averaging a Big 12 Conference-best 25.2 points per game. She’s getting 8.3 rebounds per game as well, earning Big 12 Player of the Week honors twice.

Clark ranks fourth in the country in points per game (26.4) and seventh in assists per game (6.5).

Clark, the reigning Miss Iowa Basketball from Dowling Catholic, has won the Big Ten’s Player of the Week honor three times and the Big Ten Freshman of the Week five times.

Joens, the Iowa City High graduate who was named Miss Iowa Basketball in 2018, is the fourth Big 12 player to notch four-straight 30-point performances — the first since Brittney Griner in 2013.
