Hall and Nixon named unanimous All-Americans

Iowa State’s Breece Hall and Iowa’s Daviyon Nixon were named unanimous first-team All-Americans Thursday evening by the Walter Camp Foundation.

Hall, a sophomore running back, is the first unanimous first-teamer in Cyclones history. He is joined on the first team by Najee Harris of Alabama in the backfield. Hall rushed for 1,572 yards in 12 games on 279 attempts, averaging 5.6 yards per carry and leading the country in yards and attempts. Scoring 21 touchdowns on the ground, Hall was a finalist for the Doak Walker Award won on Thursday by Harris.

Iowa State tight end Charlie Kolar was named to the second team.

Junior defensive end Daviyon Nixon, who is Iowa’s ninth-ever unanimous first-team All-American, was named the Big Ten’s Defensive Player of the Year and had 5.5 sacks. Nixon recorded 45 tackles in just eight games, racking up 13.5 tackles for loss and an iconic interception return for a touchdown against Penn State.

Nixon has declared for the NFL Draft.

Iowa offensive lineman Tyler Linderbaum was named to the second team.
