Tyler Cook signs 10-day deal with Brooklyn Nets

ORLANDO, Fla. — Tyler Cook of the Iowa Wolves, the official NBA G League affiliate of the Minnesota Timberwolves, has signed a 10-day contract with the Brooklyn Nets. Cook is Iowa’s first call-up of the season, and the first since Amile Jefferson during the 2017-18 season.

In eight games for Iowa this season, Cook (6-foot-8, 255 pounds) averaged 20.8 points, 9.6 rebounds and 4.4 assists in 33.3 minutes per game. On Feb. 10 he scored a career-high 31 points against the Long Island Nets. At the time of his signing, Cook’s 20.8 points per game was seventh in the NBA G League and his 9.6 rebounds ranked 14th.

Cook has 13 games of NBA experience and has spent time with the Denver Nuggets and Cleveland Cavaliers. He holds regular season averages of 1.8 points and 1.1 rebounds in 4.2 minutes, while garnering shooting percentages of 66.7 percent from the field and 87.5 percent at the free throw line. Cook most recently spent the 2020 NBA Preseason with the Minnesota Timberwolves.

The St. Louis native played three seasons at the University of Iowa, averaging 14.1 points, 6.7 rebounds and 1.8 assists in 28.9 minutes per game over 93 games (92 starts).
