Bobcat boys compete at Fred Smith Hawk Relays

ANKENY — A second-place finish in the 4×200 relay was the highlight of the afternoon for the Marshalltown boys’ track and field team Tuesday at the Fred Smith Hawk Relays.

The Bobcats finished 10th out of 11 teams with 25 total points.

The 4×200-meter relay finished second with a time of 1 minute, 33.37 seconds. Deonte Dean finished third in the 100 dash with a time of 11.11.

Other notable finishes included Dwight Joar. The senior finished fourth in the high jump with a height of 5 feet, 8 inches. Conner Smith ran fifth in the 1,600 run and finished with a time of 4:42.98.

MHS girls 3rd at Cedar Falls

CEDAR FALLS — Marshalltown’s girls’ track and field team had a strong day at the Tiger Invitational Tuesday afternoon, coming in third in the team standings with 77 points.

Micah Blevins took home a first place finish in the 1,500-meter run, finishing the event in 5 minutes and 27.91 seconds. Hers was the only individual event win for the Bobcats, but Marshalltown was victorious in the 1,600 distance medley relay as well with a time of 5:01.33.

The Bobcats collected multiple second-place finishes, notably in the 4×800 relay (10:44.96) and the shuttle hurdle relay (1:15.60). Individually, Mia Rasmusson was second in the high jump with a best of 4 feet, 10 inches, and Grace Rasmussen ran second in the 800 run at 2:37.

Amaya Moore put together a fourth-place finish in the long jump at 14-10, while Sara Huffman was sixth with 14-2. Lilly Duff was fourth in the discus toss, reaching a peak distance of 101-7, and Klaudia Hernandez was sixth.

Katelyn Stowe was fourth in the 100 dash with a time of 14.49. Veronica Herrera and Sydney Hotchkiss were fifth and sixth in the 3,000 run for the Bobcats.
